Why Electrical?
With exciting and practical studies, you’ll work with transmitters, microprocessors, power electronic converters and motors to prepare you for the workforce. You’ll get hands-on with modern electronic technology, and learn the practical knowledge and skills to achieve a great career in the fields of circuit design, electric vehicle technology, electricity generation or renewable technologies.
Electrical engineers design, build and operate electrical devices and systems from small scale transmitters to major projects in the fields of medicine, power and technology.
Professional accreditation
When you graduate with your Associate Degree, you’ll be eligible to apply for provisional accreditation with Engineers Australia. Apply for membership after you graduate to become an Engineering Associate (Officer) and with the experience you will get from working in the field, you may apply for chartered status as an Engineering Officer.

As an Electrical Engineering Technician, Telecommunications Technician or Engineering Support Officer, you could land a great position with a major power company with USQ’s ties to Ergon Energy, Origin, QGC and Energex and work in one of the most important Australian infrastructures.

English language requirements
IELTS (Academic only) - 6.0 (or better) (no component lower than 5.5); TOEFL (paper based) - 550 (or better) (with a minimum Test of Written English Score of TWE 4.5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) - 213 (or better) (with essay rating of at least 4.5); TOEFL (internet based) - 80 (or better) (with 19 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) - 50 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 50); Cambridge English Scale Scores for FCE, CAE and CPE3 - Cambridge English: First (FCE) with a score of 169 or above. No less than 162 in each skill.
